Don’t Drop It! privacy policy

Effective

This privacy policy explains what information the Android game Don’t Drop It! (package name com.autonomouse.dontdropit) collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the game as downloaded from Google Play.

The short version

  • We don’t ask for your name, email address or any account to play.
  • Your scores and settings are stored only on your phone.
  • The game shows ads from Unity Ads. Unity collects information about your device, including its advertising ID, to show and measure those ads. Ads are only personalised if you agree.
  • We use Google Firebase to understand how the game is played and to fix crashes.
  • If you use Google Play Games or make an in-app purchase, Google handles that information under its own privacy policy.
  • You can ask us to delete information we hold about you at any time by emailing support@autonomouse.com.

Who we are

Don’t Drop It! is made by Autonomouse Limited, a company in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy, except where we say a third party decides how it is used.

For anything to do with your privacy, email support@autonomouse.com.

Information the game collects

Stored on your phone only

Your scores, progress and settings are saved on your phone. We don’t receive them. They are deleted when you uninstall the game or clear its data in Android’s settings.

Advertising (Unity Ads)

The game is free and paid for by ads served by Unity Ads, a service of Unity Technologies. To choose, show and measure ads, and to prevent ad fraud, Unity collects:

  • your device’s advertising ID and identifiers Unity creates for your installation of the game
  • your IP address, and an approximate location worked out from it (country or city, not your exact position)
  • device details such as make, model, operating system version, language, screen size and network type
  • information about the ads you see and interact with, such as views, clicks and whether you install an app you saw advertised

Unity uses this information as an independent controller under the Unity privacy policy.

Game engine diagnostics (Unity)

Don’t Drop It! is built with the Unity game engine. The engine sends Unity technical information about your device and how the game performs, such as device model, operating system, graphics hardware, frame rate, session length and errors. This helps us and Unity make the game run well on more phones. It is covered by the same Unity privacy policy.

Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)

We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the game is played and to find and fix problems. They collect:

  • an identifier for your installation of the game
  • in-game events, such as when a game starts and ends
  • device details such as model, operating system version and language
  • your approximate location (country or region) worked out from your IP address
  • when the game crashes, a crash report showing what the game was doing and the state of your device at the time

We see this information in aggregated reports and individual crash reports. It doesn’t include your name or contact details. Google processes it for us under the Firebase privacy and security terms.

Google Play Games

If you sign in to Google Play Games, achievements and leaderboard entries are handled by Google and linked to your Play Games profile. What other players can see is controlled by your Play Games settings. This information is covered by the Google privacy policy.

In-app purchases

Purchases are made through Google Play. Google processes your payment, and we never see your card or bank details. We receive a record of the purchase, such as the item bought, an order number and the date, so the game can unlock what you paid for.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it only to reply and to help you.

What the game doesn’t collect

The game doesn’t ask for permission to use your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files or precise location, and it doesn’t collect them.

Personalised ads and your choices

The first time you open the game in the UK or the European Economic Area, it asks whether you agree to personalised ads. If you don’t agree, you still see ads, but they are based on the game and general information such as your country, not on your interests.

You can change your choice at any time from the privacy option in the game’s settings.

You can also limit ad tracking for every app on your phone. In Android’s settings, go to Privacy, then Ads, and delete or reset your advertising ID. The exact menu names vary between phone makers.

Why we use your information

UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using personal information. Ours are:

  • Consent, for personalised ads. You can withdraw consent at any time, as described above.
  • Legitimate interests, for showing non-personalised ads (which pay for the game), preventing ad fraud, understanding how the game is played and fixing crashes. We think these uses are expected and have little effect on your privacy, and you can object to them by contacting us.
  • Contract, for delivering in-app purchases you have paid for.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Who we share information with

The game only shares information with the services described above:

  • Unity Technologies, for ads and game engine diagnostics
  • Google, for Firebase analytics and crash reporting, Google Play Games and in-app purchases

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our players, ourselves or others.

International transfers

Unity and Google may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to standard contractual clauses.

How long information is kept

  • Scores and settings on your phone are kept until you uninstall the game or clear its data.
  • Firebase Analytics data linked to an installation is kept for up to 14 months, then deleted. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.
  • Unity keeps advertising and diagnostic information as set out in the Unity privacy policy.
  • Emails you send us are kept until we have finished helping you, then deleted within two years.

Deleting your information

To delete everything stored on your phone, uninstall the game or clear its data in Android’s settings.

To ask us to delete other information, email support@autonomouse.com with the subject “Delete my data”. Because the game has no accounts, we may need your help to find your information. We will reply within one month and ask Google and Unity to delete the data they process for us that we can link to you.

You can also ask Unity directly to delete the information it holds for ads, using the contact details in the Unity privacy policy.

Keeping information secure

Information sent between the game and Unity or Google is encrypted in transit. Access to our Firebase reports is limited to the people who work on the game and protected by two-step sign-in.

Children

Don’t Drop It! is made for a general audience and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct or delete it
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

To use any of these rights, email support@autonomouse.com. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the game uses information, we will update this policy and the date at the top of the page. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the game before it takes effect.
